Hello Fellow Puget Sound Boater,

My name is Craig Cooley; I am working with Rob Sanderson of the Northwest Maritime Center attempting to organize a symposium for Maritime Education Programs of Puget Sound (SMEPPS). This symposium would be held at the new Northwest Maritime Center in Port Townsend on Friday, April 16th, and Saturday, April 17th, 2010.

You have been chosen for a “needs assessment” questionnaire to help us formulate the SMEPPS. We would appreciate it if you could take a few moments to fill out the attached questionnaire and email or fax it back. I would be happy to answer any other questions you may have at this time. Your ideas are greatly appreciated and may be the reason the SMEPPS succeeds.

Your opinion is very important to us, so please take the time to fill out the attached questionnaire.

Cheers,

Craig Cooley
SMEPPS Director
Needs Assessment

Symposium
for
Maritime Education Programs
of
Puget Sound

The symposium would bring together and network the various programs located in Puget Sound that are maritime based and offer education as a component of the program. Since there is no other gathering in Puget Sound as we are proposing we need your assistance below to help formulate what would benefit you at the event.

1)	Do you see a “need” for SMEPPS and would you or someone from your organization attend? ___________________________________________________________

2)	Is Port Townsend in your opinion a good venue for such an event? ___________________________________________________________

3)	The cost for this event is going to be around $75.00. It will include a Friday night welcoming party with no host beer and wine bar and heavy hordourves. On Saturday it will include approximately 5 hours of break out events and a box lunch from one of the local restaurants. Do you think this price is in line with other events that you have attended and would you attend if the fee was around the $75.00 we propose?_____________________________________________

4)	We intend on having a keynote speaker for Saturday morning before the breakout sessions. What would you like from this speaker? ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

5)	We plan on having several breakout sessions on Saturday. What subjects do you think would be most beneficial to you and/or your program? ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

6)	What stage is your program in: beginning, started and growing, or well established?____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

7)	Who does your program target?______________________________________ _______________________________________________________________

8)	Since we propose a Friday night “networking party” do you think you would attend, or would you rather forego the Friday night and just arrive Saturday for the symposium?___________________________________________________

9)	Any comments and/or questions you may have about this event please note below.___________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Thank you for your time. If you have asked any questions we will contact you and get them answered as soon as possible. If you would like to speak to someone please call Craig Cooley at 360-720-6070.

Hi Tim,

Been reading and enjoying your site for the past few weeks. I wanted to take a second and introduce myself and the website my wife and I just launched, www.threesheetsnw.com. Would love to get your feedback. I think we are thinking along similar lines. If you are interested, perhaps we can grab a cup of coffee soon and see if there are any opportunties to partner. I don't have anything formed in my mind, just a notion that an alliance of some sort is possible.

We haven't done much to promote our site yet, but have plans to do so in the months ahead. We are focused for the time-being on getting more content posted and working out the bugs. Still, we've been encourage by the steady growth in readers.

Deborah and are are also avid sailors as well as fomer reporters for the Seattle Times and Seattle PI.

Hope to chat with you soon.

Cheers,
Marty
