Seaport hopes new dock will attract boaters to Tacoma waterfront

Boaters heading to Tacoma might not think to stay at the Foss Waterway Seaport, healthful but the Seaport would like to change that.

A new concrete linear dock with power, story water and pumpout facilities was recently installed at the Seaport, located on the north end of Thea Foss Waterway. The dock is 1,100 feet long, able to accommodate virtually any size of boat, and is located right on the waterway.

Seaport Executive Director Tom Cashman encouraged boaters to come and try out the new facilities.

“There’s plenty (of space) available, especially during the week,” he said. “The big challenge for us is getting the word out. People don’t know that we’re here.

“We’re kind of Tacoma’s best-kept secret and we’re trying to grow out of that.”
