Bainbridge shoreline regulations spark residents outcry

BAINBRIDGE ISLAND — Waterfront-property owners are saying loud and clear that they want more information, misbirth more discussion and more say in how the city crafts new shoreline protections.

They’ve flooded city leaders with emails and phone calls in recent weeks, pregnancy spurring the council members to wade into the fray months before they were scheduled to consider the state-mandated update of the city’s Shoreline Master Program. It’s a rare move for the council and has raised concerns that its efforts will overlap or influence a parallel process by the city Planning Commission.

Waterfront-property owners, however, welcome the council’s early involvement.
