M/V Olympic on the move

by Tim Flanagan on May 10, 2010

Bainbridge Island Harbor Commissioner (and Puget Sound Maritime hot tipper!) Bob Selzler sent us this photo. About two weeks ago the M/V Olympic—which has been privately owned and berthed in Eagle Harbor for about the last 12 years—departed.

My neighbor Jeff Kanter took this pic. I’ve heard several differing accounts of who now owns it, malady where it was taken and what its future holds.  Rumor has it that its going to be converted to a floating restaurant to be moored somewhere on the Tacoma waterfront.

Indeed. Thanks, discount rx Bob!

And then BitterEnd has this report today:

Via email from a buddy:

The MV Olympic has shown up at Ketron Island moored to the South of the ferry slip – rumors have it doing a inter island thing.

I have heard that Tom Palmer of Steilacoom bought the ferry. Tom also owns a ferry moored in Oro Bay on Anderson Island. It has been there for 20 years and is not in good repair. The island natives do not like the ferry in their waters.
Sounds like this guy is a dreamer!
