A $7 million acquisition will give Orion Marine Group Inc. a leg up on establishing a base on the West Coast.
Houston-based Orion (NYSE: ORN) has agreed to buy certain marine equipment items from an unnamed company exiting the marine construction business.
Included in the purchase are derrick barges, cranes, hammers and ancillary equipment.
Orion, a marine construction and services company, has also hired personnel already living in the area to help establish the new West Coast operation that will include Canada and Alaska. The new yard and office will be established on a waterfront site leased from Washington-based Port of Tacoma.
