Shelton’s Oakland Bay Marina pilings in good shape

by Tim Flanagan on May 7, 2009

This very brief story, by Dedrick Allan, appears in the Mason County Daily News:

The Port of Shelton reports that most of Oakland Bay Marina’s pier pilings are in good shape. Staff recently took core samples of the pilings and found that four of them need to be replaced and 20 will need some other type of repair while the remaining 98 will last for many more years. The Port’s next step is to have a structural engineer look at the pilings to make recommendations on how to repair the bad pilings and strengthen the rest. In the meantime, vehicles will not be allowed to park on the pier as has been the case for some time.
