Washington century: Ports adrift

by Tim Flanagan on February 24, 2009

An excerpt from today’s Seattle Post-Intelligencer editorial:

In a competitive international economy, visit this a merger among the ports of Seattle, Tacoma and Everett is an absolute must. The failure to address the issue may come to exemplify the complacency that can sink the state economy.

A bipartisan bill calling for a study of combining the ports apparently is going nowhere. While the Democratic majority prides itself on working for “One Washington,” the House leadership won’t even discuss making the ports work together for the good of the state.
