BC Ferries Island Sky starts service tomorrow

[Although I understand all is not wine and roses with our neighboring ferry system to the north, information pills it’s nevertheless encouraging to see BC Ferries purchasing new vessels and putting them into service. Here’s the press release. —Tim]

BC Ferries brand new ship to officially begin operation on Northern Sunshine Coast route.

VICTORIA – BC Ferries’ newest vessel, Island Sky, will officially commence service on Thursday, February 19, at 5:35 a.m. on the Earls Cove – Saltery Bay route.

The Island Sky, which accommodates 450 passengers and 125 vehicles, is equipped with the latest in marine safety, fire fighting and lifesaving equipment. Passenger amenities on the Island Sky include: a Coastal Cafe Express; comfortable lounge seating with panoramic views; spacious outdoor seating on an open sundeck; and an elevator.

BC Ferries looks forward to welcoming our customers on board the new Island Sky.
